The San Francisco 49ers selected former South Carolina WR Deebo Samuel in Round 2 of the 2019 NFL Draft and he performed well as a rookie.

Appearing in 15 regular-season games and making 11 starts, Samuel recorded 57 catches for 802 yards and 5 touchdowns. He added 159 yards and 3 scores as a rusher.

Can he be even better in 2020? Pro Football Focus explained why the former Gamecock could be the breakout star receiver this fall:

“He flirted with that top 10 level last year toward the back end of the season,” PFF’s Anthony Treash said. “From Week 10 to the Super Bowl, he was the 11th highest graded receiver in the NFL. I think he can solidify that top 10 status next year. He absolutely is filthy after the catch and I think Jimmy Garoppolo is going to find a new best friend there.”

The 49ers will expect to contend for another Super Bowl berth this fall, so we’ll see if Samuel takes a step forward to help the offense.
