Ole Miss lost a commitment on Tuesday evening only to turn around and add another immediately at the same position.

Eyebrows were raised locally as Oxford native and five-star kicker, according to Kohl’s Kicking service, Jack Tannehill announced his decommitment from the Rebels on Tuesday. Interestingly, Tannehill thanked several members of the previous Ole Miss coaching staff including Matt Luke in his decommitment statement. He made no reference to Lane Kiffin or his coaching staff.

Now we know why.

Not long after Tannehill decommitted from Ole Miss, Louisiana specialist Caden Costa announced his commitment to the Rebels. Costa says he will be on full scholarship in Oxford, something LSU had considered but had yet to offer the Mandeville native.

Chris Sailer Kicking rates Costa as a 4.5-star prospect and the nation’s No. 57 kicker in the 2021 recruiting cycle. According to his profile, Costa has the ability to kick and punt at the next level.
