If Mississippi State and Florida State find themselves playing each other in a bowl game by the end of the year, both Jarrian Jones and Fabien Lovett will have the ability to face their former team on the field next season.

That’s because both Mississippi State transfers have been granted immediate eligibility by the NCAA, Florida State announced on Thursday.

Both players left Mississippi State following Mike Leach’s since-deleted tweet that gained national coverage. At one point, both players appeared headed to Ole Miss.

Considering the alternative, Bulldog fans are likely happy to see both these players leave the SEC for the ACC.

“We are fired up for Jarrian and Fabien to have this opportunity to compete this season,” head coach Mike Norvell said in a prepared statement. “The entire Florida State family is grateful to the NCAA committee for their time considering these appeals for two great young men. Jarrian and Fabien are tremendous football players who have already had a positive impact on our program, and I’m looking forward to seeing that impact continue to grow.”

During his true freshman season, Jones appeared in 11 games for Mississippi State in 2019. Lovett was a redshirt freshman last season and made 13 starts during his 15 appearances in Starkville.
