Cade Mays has been the most talked-about Tennessee player since the NCAA ruled against an immediate eligibility waiver as an undergraduate transfer from Georgia, so it’s no surprise that Mays came up at Jeremy Pruitt’s Friday press conference.

“To me, it’s just common sense. If there’s a lawsuit going on with your employer, it’s probably not the best environment in the world,” Pruitt said. (Pruitt may catch some flak for referring to Georgia as Mays’ former “employer” since Mays is supposed to be an amateur student-athlete in the eyes of the NCAA.)

A lawyer for Mays has stated that the class of 2018 signee’s environment at UGA will be the focus of their appeal. Earlier this year, it was reported that Mays’ father is suing Georgia over an incident that happened when the younger Mays’ was visiting campus in Athens.

Though Mays did not receive the eligibility waiver, Pruitt says they have not reduced his practice reps.

Mays’ practice situation may be something to watch as Tennessee gets closer to its season-opener on Sept. 26 at South Carolina.
