Myles Brennan has patiently waited for his opportunity to start at LSU, and if you were to ask Ed Orgeron, the quarterback could not have asked for a better group of targets to throw to heading into his first season as the team’s starting signal-caller.

If LSU is going to repeat in the West this fall and make a second consecutive trip to Atlanta for the 2020 SEC Championship Game, Brennan will need to have a big season replacing the biggest star in college football last fall.

Well, based on what Coach Orgeron had to say about his new starting quarterback during his recent appearance on Baton Rouge-based radio show “Off The Bench” on Tuesday, LSU’s new quarterback not only looks the part, he’s got the talent surrounding him to have a breakout season.

“Very pleased with Myles. Myles has done a tremendous job, he’s waited his turn, he’s taken command of the offense,” Orgeron said on the show. “I talk with Steve (Ensminger) every day about the quarterbacks, we grade them out, Myles is grading very high – and so are those young quarterbacks, they are looking good.”

“But I’ll say this to you, that’s a group of receivers he gets to throw to. You are looking at the Gatorade Player of the Year (Arik Gilbert), the Biletnikoff winner (Ja’Marr Chase), you got the No. 1 receiver out of high school in Terrace Marshall, then you have Racey McMath and these young guys. We are going to be fine.”

After last season’s epic season, the standard for LSU’s offense is very high but Coach O has confidence that the unit won’t take much of a step back with Brennan leading the unit and a receiving corps that would be the envy of just about any team in the nation.
