It’s still Fitzmagic time in Miami.

Entering his 16th season in the NFL, Ryan Fitzpatrick has been named the starting quarterback for the Dolphins heading into the team’s Week 1 showdown with the New England Patriots in Foxboro.

“I mean this isn’t groundbreaking news, but Fitz is going to be the starter,” Miami head coach Brian Flores revealed on Monday. “He’s done a good job through the course of training camp, and he’ll be out there.”

While many fans are eager to see Tua Tagovailoa make his NFL debut, starting that journey going up against Bill Belichick’s Patriot defense probably wouldn’t be the best idea.

Fitzpatrick also has experience in offensive coordinator Chan Gailey’s system, which played a part in the team’s decision to go with the veteran under center to start the season.

The veteran QB led the Dolphins to five wins during the final nine games of the 2019 regular season.

While his time likely isn’t far off, for now, Tagovailoa will have to sit and wait before being named the starter in Miami.
