Turns out Eli Manning’s No. 10 number won’t be retired at Ole Miss after all, at least, not yet.

The school had originally planned to retire Manning’s No. 10 on Sept. 19, which was the original date for the Rebels’ home game against Auburn but those plans have changed.

Here is the latest update from Ole Miss, which shared the following statement on Monday:

“With the circumstances surrounding this football season, the jersey number retirement ceremony of Eli Manning’s No. 10 has been postponed until 2021.”

While that was likely a difficult decision, it’s probably for the best as Manning and his family deserve a full house when Eli receives the honor from his alma mater.

Something tells us Manning won’t be too disappointed with the news, however, as he seems to be enjoying his family life during his first season without football.

Manning played four seasons in Oxford, throwing for 10,119 yards and 81 touchdowns including five rushing scores during that time. Manning will one day join his father Archie (No. 18) and Chucky Mullins (No. 38) as the only Rebels to have their jerseys retired by Ole Miss.
