Earlier this offseason, the NCAA announced that Tennessee OL Cade Mays would not be eligible for the 2020 season after transferring from Georgia.

Naturally, that upset the Volunteers, as well as their fan base, and the school quickly filed an appeal with the NCAA.

On Thursday, coach Jeremy Pruitt announced a huge breakthrough in the case, as he said the NCAA has indeed cleared Mays to play in 2020 upon appeal:

If you thought that was the final hurdle to clear, though, you’d be wrong. Apparently, the SEC still has to sign off on the waiver to allow Mays to play since he transferred between SEC schools:

So, this is a promising sign for Vols fans, but we’ll have to see if the SEC signs off on the waiver. For now, though, it seems the Tennessee offensive line could be in line for a huge boost.
