The nation’s No. 1 JUCO running back has decided to decommit from Tennessee.

On Saturday, Tiyon Evans backed off his verbal pledge to the Volunteers, announcing the news via his Twitter account.

“After having a conversation with my mother I’ve decided to De-commit from the University of Tennessee and open my recruitment back up. I graduate in December and have 3 years (of) eligibility,” Evans wrote.

A South Carolina native, Evans is currently at Hutchinson Community College in Kansas. He was one of the many commitments Tennessee landed during spring quarantine, pledging on April 30.

UT should be fine at the running back position for the 2021. The Vols still have a trio of running backs committed: 4-star Cody Brown, 3-star Jaylen Wright and 3-star Elijah Howard.

A 3-star prospect on the 247Sports Composite JUCO, Evans currently has scholarship offers from South Carolina, East Carolina, Houston, Maryland, Oklahoma State, UCF and Western Kentucky.
