The Southeastern Conference unveiled the media’s preseason selections on Wednesday. Social media instantly became abuzz after No. 5 Florida was narrowly favored to win the East division instead of No. 4 Georgia.

This marks the first time since 2016 that Georgia hasn’t been picked to win the SEC East. Florida received 624 total votes (53 first-place votes), while Georgia had 613 votes (43 first-place votes). Georgia (7) actually earned more votes than Florida (5) to win the conference.

Last season, Georgia defeated Florida and edged them by one game to capture the SEC East. This season’s contest is slated for Nov. 7 (3:30 p.m./CBS) from its annual location in Jacksonville.

Georgia is currently on a three-game winning streak in the series. Coincidentally, the two teams have swapped three-game winning streaks dating back to 2008.
