The Kentucky Wildcats figure to have a few players selected in the 2020 NBA Draft next month, but only 1 looks like a likely first-round pick.

While Immanuel Quickley, Nick Richards and Ashton Hagans could all hear their names called, Tyrese Maxey will almost certainly be the first Wildcat off the board.

On Monday, coach John Calipari talked about Maxey, comparing him to former Wildcat Jamal Murray, who has become a star with the Denver Nuggets (via YourSportsEdge.com):

“I’m trying to tell everybody when you look at Tyrese, he’s a smaller version, but he’s still 6-2, of Jamal Murray who is 6-5. They both have that lower release. Everybody said Jamal would never get it (his shot) off,” Calipari said Monday during a Zoom media call.

Calipari even went as far as to warn teams that they’ll regret passing on Maxey:

“There are going to be people who’ll pass on Tyrese that will regret like how they passed on PJ (Washington), like how they passed on Shai (Gilgeous-Alexander), Jamal (Murray) and we can keep going,” Calipari said. “He’s going to be that (type of player).”

Where will Maxey end up going, and how will he fit in? We’ll see what happens next month in the draft.
