Why isn't Texas A&M among the top 6 teams? Kirk Herbstreit explains
Texas A&M may have lost to Alabama in Week 2, but since then, the Aggies have been one of the best teams in the country.
After a 48-3 rout of South Carolina on Saturday, many fans are wondering if the Aggies can move up to No. 6 in the AP Poll and within striking distance of the College Football Playoff.
However, on Sunday morning, ESPN’s Kirk Herbstreit didn’t have the Aggies in his top 6. When asked why, he said they’re right there, but Florida should be rewarded for beating a top-10 team in Georgia:
Fair point-Bear & I were just talkin about that. At the end if AM keeps winnin & playin well that would be a good way to separate the 2 teams & favor Aggies. But since that loss UF different team & should be rewarded for yesterday’s performance (even w/ Dawgs beat up). https://t.co/zpzhwUKrmX

A&M’s final 4 games of the regular season are at Tennessee, vs. Ole Miss, vs. LSU and at Auburn. Win those 4 games and the Aggies could find themselves in a position to perhaps sneak into the Playoff field.
A loss against the top team in the country is hardly anything that should hurt Jimbo Fisher’s squad too much.
