Georgia hoped to see an instant impact from cornerback Kelee Ringo, a true freshman ranked as one of the top high school recruits in the country. That hope came to an end during fall practice as the Arizona native sustained a torn labrum and needed surgery to repair it.

The good news for Ringo: he is in team meetings and has attended practices, but has donned a black jersey.

“I don’t think he’s going to be back anytime soon,” said head coach Kirby Smart, according to The Athletic’s Seth Emerson.

Smart added that Ringo is participating at “70 percent” while being kept from contact, according to Anthony Dasher of UGASports.com.

From the sounds of it, Ringo’s surgery was a success, with the staff naturally withholding his activity level as he continues to recover. That being said, if the expectations placed on him before arriving in Athens end up being true, the Bulldogs will have landed themselves a star in the backfield. He was ranked by 247Sports as the No. 1 cornerback in the class of 2020 and as the No. 4 overall player in the country regardless of position.

Despite a push by Oregon to land his services, he ultimately chose Georgia, enrolling in January.
