CBS having the broadcast of the Iron Bowl meant that two of the more vocal fan bases in the SEC would come out against broadcaster Gary Danielson.

One of the early themes of the broadcast was that several people assumed Danielson had an obvious Alabama bias, as he downplayed positive plays for Auburn, and deflected would-be penalties against the Crimson Tide.

Multiple fans incorrectly figured that Alabama coach Nick Saban, who tested positive for COVID-19 earlier in the week and was not at the stadium, also watched the game on CBS. But Saban explained earlier in the week that he would watch from, “the same feed that we take of the game, which is the film we watch on Sunday.”

Several fans pointed out that on Alabama’s first touchdown, that Danielson missed the play where QB Mac Jones pump faked to move the Auburn safety and open the middle of the field.

On a play that was reviewed for targeting, several fans pointed out that Danielson didn’t give a clear explanation, or, surprisingly in their mind, made a call against Alabama.

Here’s a sampling of how the criticism went toward Danielson:
