Not passing the eye test? Fans react to Texas A&M's sluggish first half at Tennessee
The Texas A&M Aggies are up to No. 5 in the College Football Playoff rankings, but they need some help to get in the Playoff field.
Also, they need to pass the “eye test” in the eyes of the College Football Playoff selection committee at Tennessee on Saturday afternoon. But, so far, it’s not looking like that’s happening.
Late in the second quarter, the Aggies held a narrow 17-13 lead against the Vols, which wasn’t exactly the dominant performance many wanted to see from Jimbo Fisher’s squad, especially since the Vols are without DC Derek Ansley and star RB Eric Gray. A late touchdown pass to Ainias Smith gave the Vols a more comfortable 24-13 lead at halftime.
To make things even more interesting, Northwestern held a 10-3 lead midway through the second quarter against Ohio State, the No. 4 team in the country. Fans had plenty to say on social media after the Aggies’ first-half performance against the Vols:
If Texas A&M played literally any other top 10 team right now, they would lose by at least 15-20 points, they aren’t a top 15 team and will literally get curbstomped if by some miracle the committee lets them into the playoff lmao

I can’t be the only one thinking that it would be a joke if Texas A&M snuck their way into the playoffs right?

A&M’s defense is the reason we’re not in the playoff discussion

Kellen Mond isn't a bad QB by any stretch. But the guy literally hasn't progressed in a million years for the #Aggies #volunteers #NCAAF

I bet the OU we are seeing right now would beat A&M. I still don’t see a Top 4 caliber team when I watch the Aggies. #sorrynotsorry

Texas A&M is the most overrated team in the CFP era

Umm…Buckeyes struggling biggggly.
Committee's eye test is struggling.
A&M struggling with a horrid Tennessee team??
Hmmm…Clem in the playoff even with a close loss to ND??

Would love for the committee to explain exactly what eye test Iowa State, Ohio State, and Texas A&M have been passing all season.

Will the Aggies put it together after the break and blow out the Vols? They might gain some motivation after checking the Northwestern score during the intermission. We’ll see what happens in the second half!
