The Alabama Crimson Tide will be taking on the Notre Dame Fighting Irish in the Rose Bowl in Dallas; however, they will be without one of their on-field assistants in associate head coach and running backs coach Charles Huff, according to The Athletic’s Aaron Suttles.

Per the report, analyst Alex Mortensen will be elevated to an on-field coaching role for the Playoff semifinal. A reason wasn’t given as to why Huff didn’t travel.

How much will this affect Alabama? Likely not much if any at all. While Huff is a key part to Alabama’s overall success, his impact for missing a game will be minimal.

Right now, Huff is ranked as the nation’s No. 1 recruiter for 2021. He is the primary recruiter for 5-stars JC Latham, Dallas Turner, Damon Payne, Camar Wheaton and Jacorey Brooks.

Alabama will take on Notre Dame at 4:00 p.m. ET.
