The Alabama Crimson Tide will have a big hole to fill on their coaching staff after the Jan. 11 College Football Playoff title game.

That’s because OC Steve Sarkisian will be leaving to take over as head coach at Texas after that time. The Broyles Award winner for best assistant in college football will be a big loss for coach Nick Saban’s staff.

But, at least he’s staying with the Tide through the title game. On Saturday, he explained why it’s important to him to see things through to the finish (via AL.com):

“I made a commitment to Coach Saban and these players to see that through in the championship game,” Sarkisian said, “and then directly after that, I’ll be in Austin.”

That’s a big sigh of relief for Saban and the Crimson Tide players, as Sark has been a huge part of the offense’s success the past couple of years.

If he leaves after helping the Tide win another national title, it’ll be a lot better than leaving before the job is done.
