After two seasons in Mark Stoops’ Kentucky football program, a Wildcats tight end has decided to explore opportunities elsewhere.

On Wednesday, Nikolas Ognenovic tweeted that he has decided to enter the transfer portal. In his note, Ognenovic thanked Stoops, assistant coach Vince Marrow and former Kentucky offensive coordinator Eddie Gran for the opportunity to play at UK.

“I would like to thank Coach Stoops, Coach Marrow, and Coach Gran, as well as the entire University of Kentucky football staff for the opportunity to be a Wildcat. After a lot of praying and discussion with my family, I have decided to enter the transfer portal,” Ognenovic tweeted.

A native of Fort Lauderdale, Florida, Ognenovic was rated a 3-star prospect on the 247Sports Composite in the class of 2019. He committed to Kentucky on July 4, 2018, signing with the Wildcats over 13 other offers, including Ole Miss.

Ognenovic was a redshirt freshman in 2020. His first year in Lexington, Ognenovic played in two games, allowing him to redshirt. This past season, he appeared in seven games.
