There’s a chance that Chayil Garnett stays in the SEC.

If you missed the news from earlier this week, the Auburn quarterback made the decision to enter the NCAA transfer portal after just one season on The Plains.

Garnett signed with Auburn as a member of the program’s 2020 recruiting class, picking the Tigers over scholarship offers from Duke, Charlotte, Coastal Carolina, and Temple, among others. He did not make an appearance on the field in 2020.

The Florida native is the fifth Tiger to enter the portal in the last week.

In a recent interview with John Garcia, Jr. of Sports Illustrated, Garnett says he’s received interest from several schools since entering his name into the NCAA transfer portal. The list of teams that have reached out includes several from the SEC:

Since making the move, Garnett reports considerable interest from Power 5 programs, with Malzahn’s UCF staff in touch as well as Florida State and Louisville from the ACC, initially. Since, he says Texas A&M, Tennessee, Ole Miss, Mississippi State, Indiana, Virginia Tech, Utah and others have communicated interest.

Garnett was rated as a three-star prospect in the 2020 recruiting cycle and the nation’s No. 24 dual-threat passer according to 247Sports Composite Rankings.
