Vanderbilt opened the 2021 season with a brutal 23-3 home loss to FCS East Tennessee State last weekend.

So, when the Commodores traveled to Colorado Springs to take on Colorado State in a late game on Saturday night, not much was expected from Clark Lea’s squad.

Indeed, as the Rams pulled out to a 14-0 lead, it looked like another rout was on. But, the Commodores found some matchups to exploit and clawed their way back into the game.

And, late in the fourth quarter, the Commodores took the lead on this 38-yard field goal by Joseph Bulovas:

The win helped Vanderbilt break an 11-game losing streak. Now, Lea has his first win at the helm of the program.

With a home game against Stanford next week, we’ll see if the Commodores can start a winning streak.
