Georgia can ill afford any more injuries to its pass-catching corps.

Already without Arik Gilbert, Darnell Washington, and Dominick Blaylock, and with Kearis Jackson working his way back to full strength, the last thing the Bulldogs needed to see against UAB on Saturday was Arian Smith, who had a 61-yard touchdown catch, leaving the field in the 3rd quarter. That’s after a knee injury limited his availability in 2020.

Kirby Smart provided some good news on Smith on Tuesday, as Smith has simply suffered a bruise, according to Seth Emerson.

As for Blaylock, he seems to have suffered a setback as he’s fighting an injury to his hamstring. For Gilbert and his availability, according to Smart, it’s not known when the LSU transfer will rejoin the team as he continues to deal with personal issues that have kept him off the field thus far in 2021.

But the news is good for Smith, and barring any issues, it certainly sounds like he’ll be on the field on Saturday night against South Carolina.
