Ed Orgeron out at LSU: CFB fans, media react to huge news out of Baton Rouge
Ed Oregon and LSU separating less than 2 years after winning a national championship was not a huge surprise for college football fans and media. But the timing to come on Sunday morning after being worked out in recent days was a surprise to many across college football.
After a 5-5 record in 2020, the Tigers are 4-3 in 2021, but as reports suggest, the agreement was worked out before the Florida game, so even beating the Gators didn’t change the story of his future after all.
Here is a sampling of the reaction from fans and media:
Ed Orgeron is going to make one hell of a defensive analyst at #Alabama next year. https://t.co/hyl7Fxf868

Dan Mullen’s winning % at UF: .733
Ed Orgeron’s winning % at LSU: .742LSU just fired a coach with a national title after a win with a better record than Mullen. Wonder if that adds a bit of pressure.

A source familiar with the situation at LSU: “It’s one of those things where no one wanted to be there anymore. The players didn’t want to play for him, the coaches didn’t want to coach for him.”

If LSU really fired Ed Orgeron this close to a national championship after beating Florida with a not great LSU team who in their right mind would want this job?
I guess Louisiana is a good fit for Rolovich though… timing does seem interesting pic.twitter.com/RUFeeLC0Nu

Mike the Tiger solemnly opening the door and gesturing half-heartedly for Ed Orgeron to leave as his eyes fill with tears.

BREAKING Ed Orgeron will NOT be brought back as LSU’s head coach after this season but will finish the year, per sources, as @RossDellenger first reported … Orgeron led LSU to the 2019 national title but is being let go 21 months later. The Tigers (4-3) beat No. 20 UF Sat.

I said before the season started that Coach O would be out at LSU by the end of the 2022 season. I was wrong. It was a year earlier. https://t.co/w5OtKAMr4Q

He shkulda stood up for his players during the whole BLM movement. Also, the players beat Florida cuz they really really dislike Florida. Not cuz of coach O https://t.co/JrHC1Oxx82
