Greg McElroy is calling the Mizzou-Georgia game on ESPN on Saturday, but that didn’t stop the topic of No. 2 Alabama coming up.

The Tide were second, behind Georgia, in the first College Football Playoff rankings when they came out on Tuesday night. But, can they get to the Playoff? They’ll likely need to win out, including beating Georgia in the SEC Championship Game.

But, can they even reach Atlanta? McElroy cautioned the Tide to watch out for a feisty Auburn team:

“Auburn is a dangerous team this time of year,” McElroy said on the broadcast. “Alabama has won 3 national championship games since they last won in Jordan-Hare. That’s a difficult place to play. Auburn, an improved Auburn team, will have something up their sleeves for the Tide.”

Auburn will play at Texas A&M on Saturday afternoon in a game with huge SEC West implications.

Will the Iron Bowl be for the SEC West title? We’ll find out as that rivalry game draws ever closer.
