Nick Saban and the Alabama Crimson Tide picked up a big 59-3 win against an overmatched New Mexico State team on Saturday at Bryant-Denny Stadium.

Yes, at one point early in the first quarter, New Mexico State held a 3-0 lead. But, Saban wasn’t about to criticize his team for that.

In fact, when he was asked in his postgame press conference about the “slow start,” Saban took issue with the reporter, as you can see below:

“I think you really gotta be digging deep,” he said. “You know, it’s hard to win. I see people getting beat — what was the Florida score today against Samford? Do you want me to be critical of my team because we had to punt once in the first quarter and they got a field goal? I mean, I’m not going to do it. Like I said, they did a couple things, we made a couple mistakes. They did some things different, we adjusted to it. I think the players did a good job. I’m not going to be critical of anything that our players did when we win 59-3.

“Not a good question, incidentally.”

Indeed, Alabama looked dominant for nearly the entire game. We’ll see if that carries over in the final 2 games of the regular season against Arkansas and Auburn.
