Roger McCreary formally declared for the NFL Draft on Tuesday. The All-American cornerback confirmed he will not suit up in Auburn’s Birmingham Bowl game against Houston on Dec. 28.

McCreary took to Twitter to make his announcement.

Auburn head coach Bryan Harsin told reporters last week that McCreary was one of multiple Tiger players opting out of the bowl game.

A senior, McCreary recorded 14 pass breakups and 2 interceptions, including a pick-6, this season. McCreary’s 16 passes defended and 14 PBUs are most among SEC defenders in 2021. He also logged 49 tackles, including 2 for loss and a sack.

A Mobile native, McCreary joined Auburn in 2018 out of Williamson. He looks to have a bright future playing on Sundays.
