Former Kentucky LB Bud Dupree is facing a misdemeanor assault charge following an altercation with an employee at a Walgreens in Nashville this week.

Dupree and his attorney met with detectives on Tuesday at the Hermitage Precinct, according to Nashville police. His attorney also met with detectives Monday afternoon.

“Due to the victim being assaulted, the defendant is being charged with assault-fear of bodily injury,” Nashville police said in a statement, citing the citation that was issued.

The incident happened around 8 p.m. on Sunday night. A citation issued against Dupree stated some of Dupree’s companions got into an argument with a male employee. According to the citation, Dupree then grabbed the employee and his phone and got into a “physical altercation.” The employee was allegedly filming during the incident, according to a police spokesperson.

Dupree had left the store by the time police arrived, according to police. The male employee was treated for a cut to his forehead, Aaron said. A female employee was also treated for a cut on her hand.

Dupree was the Titans’ marquee free-agent signing, with a five-year deal worth $82.5 million in March, the Tennessean reported. The former Steelers pass rusher was slow to start the season, as he was recovering from a torn ACL suffered in December 2020 and spent 3 games on injured reserve with an abdominal injury.

Dupree is in his seventh season after he was drafted No. 22 in the 2015 NFL Draft out of Kentucky.
