Derion Kendrick is off to the NFL after one memorable season at Georgia.

The Bulldog cornerback, a Clemson transfer, made the announcement on his Instagram account. Kendrick thanked Dawg Nation for welcoming him and giving him the incredible experience of playing in Sanford Stadium. He also thanked Dabo Swinney for the opportunity to play at Clemson.

Kendrick played in all 15 games of the 2021 season, his only year with the Bulldogs. He made 41 tackles, including 2 for loss, along 7 passes defended, including 4 interceptions. Kendrick had an Orange Bowl to remember, snagging 2 interceptions, a career-high, in UGA’s win over Michigan.

Kendrick transferred to Georgia after 3 seasons at Clemson (2018-20). His first game with the Dawgs was against his former team. In Georgia’s Week 1 win over Clemson, Kendrick had 3 tackles. Kendrick’s 4 seasons of college football are book-ended by national championships. The 2018 Tigers won the College Football Playoff National Championship, also defeating Alabama.

Kendrick played 4 seasons but had the option to return for a fifth season as a “super senior” due to the NCAA’s COVID waiver for 2020.
