Nick Saban took in some basketball Friday night. Saban, a noted hoops enthusiast, brought both his coordinators along to check out Arch Manning’s game.

Manning’s Isidore Newman squad was taking on De La Salle. Saban brought along Alabama coordinators Bill O’Brien and Pete Golding. InTheGymHoops notes that recruiters from LSU and Texas were also on hand Friday night.

As the 2022 cycle nears its close, college football coaches are flocking to Isidore Newman’s basketball games to see the No. 1 2023 football recruit in action.

247Sports recruiting expert Steve Wiltfong recently broke down the hardwood visits.

“Kirby Smart and several staff members, Buster Faulkner, Todd Monken, Matt Luke, were at the basketball game of Isidore Newman (this week) to watch Arch Manning play,” Wiltfong said on the College Football Recruiting Podcast. “So was Cory Dennis, Ohio State’s quarterbacks coach, so was Charlie Weis Jr., Ole Miss’ offensive coordinator. Later on this week, you got Billy Napier in there on Tuesday … Jeff Lebby, who’s now at Oklahoma, who was recruiting Arch at Ole Miss, expected this week. A.J. Milwee from Texas, they’re a top contender. He’s been a regular at Isidore Newman. He’s expected. That was (also) Charlie Weis Jr.’s second trip this month as you can go in once a week, if you choose.”

Manning and his teammates surely notice all the college football coaches checking out Isidore Newman hoops.
