Florida’s 2022 squad will have 4 “super seniors.” The Gators have released their 2022 spring football roster (sans jersey numbers).

Linebacker Amari Burney, safety Trey Dean, linebacker Ventrell Miller and receiver Jordan Pouncey are using the NCAA’s COVID waiver for the 2020 season to remain at UF for an extra year of eligibility. Dean and Miller previously made public announcements of their plans to return for 2022.

Burney joined the program in 2018 out of Calvary Christian. The St. Petersburg, Florida native has played in 45 games over 4 seasons, posting 144 tackles (6 for loss), 3 sacks, 2 interceptions and 10 passes defended. Last year, he played in all 13 games, recording 44 tackles, including 1 for loss, and 3 passes defended.

Pouncey arrived at Florida ahead of the 2020 season as a graduate transfer from Texas.  Pouncey has played in 17 games, recording a 27-yard reception. On special teams, Pouncey made 4 tackles on special teams in 2021.

Miller missed most of the 2021 season after having surgery for a torn biceps. In 2020, Miller led the Gators in tackles with 88 over 11 games (10 starts).

Dean has logged 178 tackles, including 9 TFL, and 4 INTs during his 4 seasons at UF. In 2021, he made 92 tackles.

Florida’s 2022 spring roster also includes early enrollees (CB Devin Moore, DL Chris McClellan, S Kamari Wilson) and transfers (Louisiana RB Montrell Johnson, Georgia CB Jalen Kimber, Ohio State QB Jack Miller, Louisiana OL O’Cyrus Torrence, Louisiana OL Kamryn Waites) from the most recent signing class.

Florida’s first Orange and Blue Game under Billy Napier is set for April 16.
