It is Kessler’s second triple-double of the 2021-22 season. Justin Lee of the Opelika-Auburn News notes that Kessler is the fifth SEC player ever to record multiple triple-doubles. Kessler previously posted a triple-double on Dec. 29, 2021, against LSU.
Saturday’s triple-double from Kessler was only the third in AU hoops history. Kenny Gabriel has Auburn’s other triple-double in a Jan. 2, 2012 game against Bethune-Cookman.
Speaking to reporters after the game, Bruce Pearl had high praise for Kessler, who credited his teammates.
Bruce Pearl on C Walker Kessler: “He’s one of the most dominant players in all of college basketball. How could you have ever thought to say that a year ago? That Walker Kessler is one of the most dominant players in all of college basketball. I’m so proud of him.”

Walker Kessler credits his teammates for the blocks that led to his triple-double: “They know that I can block the shot so they corral the guard to me.”
