Alabama to play in prestigious men's hoops invitational in 2022-23 season
Alabama hasn’t been afraid to take on top-tier opponents in nonconference play under coach Nate Oats.
This season, the Tide took on 3 of last year’s Final Four teams, beating Gonzaga, Houston and reigning-champion Baylor.
That trend looks to continue in 2022-23. Per a site for the Rose Quarter in Portland, Oregon, the Tide are 1 of 8 men’s hoops teams in the field for this coming fall’s PKI (Phil Knight Invitational). The Tide will be joined in the field by Iowa State, Michigan State, North Carolina, Oregon, Portland, UConn and Villanova:
That tournament will be played on Nov. 24, 25 and 27 at 3 arenas in the area, including the Moda Center, where the Portland Trail Blazers of the NBA play.
This adds to Alabama’s already impressive nonconference slate:
Unless there’s been unannounced changes, Alabama’s non-conference 2022-23 basketball schedule also includes playing Gonzaga in Birmingham, playing at Houston and hosting Memphis. Also have a scheduled trip to South Alabama. https://t.co/CKGxcIyhgD

We’ll see if the Tide can navigate their big-name nonconference foes with the same level of success they did this year.
