Jameson Williams suffered a knee injury in the second quarter of the College Football Playoff title game back in January.

What would have happened if the Alabama star hadn’t gone down? Could the Tide have avoided a 33-18 loss to Georgia?

At the NFL Combine on Wednesday, Williams said he believes Alabama would have won the national championship if he hadn’t gone down (via AL.com):

“I felt like we would’ve won the game,” Williams said. “Just — things happen, you know.”

Williams said he has watched the play on which he suffered the injury many times, saying he was trying to figure out what happened:

“I watched the play a lot of times,” Williams said. “I don’t know what the factor was. I don’t know what caused the injury. I don’t know what it was. I just know I turned around and tried to stick and, yeah.”

Asked why he has re-watched the play so much, Williams responded, “Sh-t, I was trying to see what happened. I just couldn’t believe it happened to me. It was something I never thought could happen to me.”

Williams still has a chance to be a Round 1 pick in the 2022 NFL Draft. He might not be ready for the start of training camp, but there’s a chance he could still contribute to an NFL offense this fall.
