Will Anderson is a beast of a pass rusher and one of the best defensive players in all of college football entering the 2022 season.

But, even he knows better than to draw the ire of his head coach, Nick Saban. He knows to keep his aggression for opposing quarterbacks, not his own.

After Alabama’s spring game on Saturday, Anderson said it isn’t hard not to hit QB Bryce Young during practices (via On3 Sports):

“Not that difficult when you know, who’s back there throwing the ball, and how much the team needs him and values him,” responded Anderson. “Or you’re going to get your butt chewed out. So, all spring we’ve been very cautious of touching Bryce.”

LB Henry To’o To’o said that the defenders have too much respect for Young to do something that would put his 2022 season in jeopardy:

“We love Bryce too much to hit him,” added To’o To’o.

Young will have to face live action pass rushers this fall, obviously, but the good news for him is that he will never face the prospect of having Anderson chasing after him.
