Kentucky could be making an intriguing addition to its running back room. UK recently hosted Ramon Jefferson, a transfer portal running back who received All-American recognition at FCS program Sam Houston.

Jefferson discussed his visit with Chris Hummer of 247Sports.

“It was nice, I really enjoyed it,” Jefferson said. “I really like the offensive scheme, I feel it’ll fit my play style. … The staff and players I spoke with were really down to earth and open, great conference (and Kentucky) has been successful past (few) years.”

Jefferson has been in the transfer portal since Jan. 14. After a couple of weeks in the portal, Jefferson committed to Colorado. Jefferson decommitted from the Buffaloes on May 20. Per Hummer, Jefferson has been in contact with Kentucky, Tennessee, Eastern Michigan and others.

Jefferson’s college football career began in 2017 at Maine. After 2 seasons at Maine, Jefferson transferred to Garden City Community College in Kansas. After a JUCO season, Jefferson returned to the NCAA, landing at Sam Houston.

In 2021, Jefferson rushed 173 times for 1,155 yards and 13 touchdowns. Jefferson was voted All-America second team by the Associated Press and Phil Steele.
