Pete Golding was arrested for DUI back in February, the day after National Signing Day.

On Sunday, during Alabama’s fall camp media day, the Crimson Tide’s defensive coordinator was asked about the arrest and what he’s learned from it.

Golding said it was a selfish decision and said he has to deal with the consequences of his actions (via AL.com):

“There are consequences for making bad decisions,” Golding said Sunday. “And I made a very poor decision that affected a lot of other people than just myself. And it was selfish. And it opened up a lot of emotions for a lot of people, because people can be affected by making that decision. And I was wrong, and I’ve got to suffer the consequences for it.”

Golding said he has to prove to his team that he can earn back their respect as a leader:

“I’ve done a lot of things in my life, obviously, to adjust what I do to become a better person for it, as a father, a husband and a coach,” Golding said Sunday. “When I told the team, I met with them that next day. I said ‘Look, man, I can tell you anything I want, but I’ve got to show you.’ To provide that leadership and get the trust back from the team, that I’ve made a mistake, I’ve learned from it, and move on.”

Golding has been with the Crimson Tide since 2018. He’ll serve as the team’s defensive coordinator for his fifth year in a row this fall.
