Drew Singleton was denied his eligibility and the linebacker’s potential eligibility for the upcoming season, and now the Michigan transfer at Rutgers is looking for another solution.

Singleton declared for the 2022 NFL Draft following the conclusion of last season, which saw the Scarlet Knights finish 5-7 and on the wrong side of bowl eligibility.

It’s a complicated case where Singleton played in Rutgers’ bowl game in place of Texas A&M, but suffered an ankle injury. That prevented him from working out for NFL teams ahead of the draft, and he didn’t get drafted.

For coach Greg Schiano, it’s a difficult situation to understand.

“I struggle with it,” he said. “I’d like them to come and get a team ready to go, get a plane during the second-biggest outbreak of COVID and say that’s not extenuating circumstances. I don’t understand it.”
