Shane Beamer addresses South Carolina's 56-20 win over Charlotte
It wasn’t pretty to start, but South Carolina pulled away from Charlotte late to win its second game of the season, 56-20.
Head coach Shane Beamer addressed the media following South Carolina’s win. He touched on MarShawn Lloyd, updated the status of an injured Gamecock and hinted at a bit of recruiting.
The recruiting callout came when Beamer was describing Lloyd’s performance. The sophomore running back rushed for 169 yards and 3 touchdowns.
Shane Beamer, joking about MarShawn Lloyd turning into a track athlete after that hurdle and immediately goes into recruiting:
“We’re recruiting one right now who would be an incredible track athlete.”

It’s hard to say, but Beamer could be talking about Nyckoles Harbor, a 5-star athlete in the Class of 2023.
Beamer also touched on the status of Dylan Wonnum:
Shane Beamer:
Dylan Wonnum hurt his right foot late in Thursday’s practice. Not severe. Hopeful for next game, definitely ready for Kentucky.
Terrell Dawkins had non-ACL knee surgery late this week. He’ll be back but it won’t be for a while.

Here’s more from Beamer’s postgame press conference:
Shane Beamer says he told Marcus Satterfield earlier in the week that he wanted to run the ball 40 times. Gamecocks ran exactly 40 times.
