Zach Arnett’s Mississippi State staff is doing work in the transfer portal. The Bulldogs picked up transfer commitments from a quarterback and a wide receiver on Sunday.

After 3 seasons at Vanderbilt, Mike Wright is headed to MSU. Wright played in 26 games for the Commodores before entering the transfer portal, making 11 starts at quarterbacks over the past 2 seasons.

As a passer, Wright’s career numbers are 184-of-333 (55.3% complete) for 2,067 yards, 21 touchdowns and 11 interceptions. Wright also ran 176 times for 905 yards and 7 TDs. In 2022, Wright’s passing yards slightly dipped from 1,042 to 974, but he posted career-highs in touchdowns both passing (12) and rushing (5).

Wright has not redshirted during his career. He has 2 full seasons of remaining eligibility.

Mississippi State is also adding a receiver. Freddie Roberson from FCS program Eastern Washington has pledged to the Bulldogs.

Roberson joined Eastern Washington in 2018. After redshirting his first year on campus, he played in 38 games over the next 4 seasons (2019-22). Roberson played in 10 games in 2022, recording 45 catches for 797 yards and 7 touchdowns. He had 3 catches for 33 yards and a TD at Oregon and 4 receptions for 62 yards at Florida.

In his Eastern Washington career, Roberson logged 141 receptions for 2,266 yards and 17 touchdowns. He also had a rushing score in the 2020 season.
