There’s two games on Saturday’s docket that SEC fans and the rest of college football will be keeping an eye on:

RELATED: SEC Power Rankings

FLORIDA at ALABAMA 3:30 p.m. ET, CBS — Any takers for the Gators as an Eastern Division sleeper? A win in Tuscaloosa would not only provide Florida with the frontrunner title on the other side of the SEC but would also help in terms of the ‘balance of power’ in college football’s toughest conference. The West has dominated the East in marquee matchups over the last several years and the gap’s widening. With a new offensive philosophy courtesy of Kurt Roper, the Gators will try and test an underwhelming Crimson Tide secondary for a big play early. Alabama’s armed with the nation’s top receiver and arguably the deepest backfield in the country. Bryant-Denny will be rocking.

MISSISSIPPI STATE at LSU, 7 p.m. ET, ESPN — Dan Mullen’s Bulldogs travel to Baton Rouge in hopes of snapping a 16-game losing skid against ranked teams and a 14-game winless stretch vs. LSU. Doing so would push Mississippi State into the Top 25 as the West’s sixth ranked team. Anchored on offense by Dak Prescott and a ferocious front seven on the other side of the ball, Mississippi St.’s equipped with its best team — talent-wise — during Mullen’s tenure. LSU counters with one of college football’s stingiest defenses, a unit that hasn’t allowed a point since the third quarter of the season opener. Driven by a power run game, the Tigers rarely lose at home, especially under the lights. Likely a game that goes down to the wire, the loser of this one has an uphill climb in the West race the rest of the way.
