Alabama fans can rest easy knowing their athletics director isn’t going anywhere.

On Thursday, Alabama AD Greg Byrne said he was not considering other jobs, according to a report from Cecil Hurt of tidesports.com.

That includes the vacant AD position at Nebraska, which Byrne was mentioned to be a possible candidate for by Huskers Illustrated.

His name also has reportedly been mentioned “speculatively” on Nebraska sports talk radio stations.

“I have a lot of respect for Nebraska,” Byrne told The Tuscaloosa News. “But Regina (Byrne) and I are thrilled to be at Alabama and are not considering other jobs.”

Byrne hasn’t been at Alabama long, so it would be tough to see him go so early.

Byrne took over the Alabama job in March, replacing the retiring Bill Battle, the report stated. ”

He previously had stops as athletics director at Mississippi State and Arizona.

“In August, Byrne was ranked as one of the top three ADs in the NCAA in a poll conducted by Sports Illustrated,” the report said.
