Over his first 2 seasons as a backup running back at Alabama, Najee Harris has developed a penchant for hurdling over opponents.

The highlight reel plays are exciting and get the fans going, but Harris said on Wednesday he’s trying to stop.

Per AL.com, Harris said he’s working on eliminating the instinctive plays from his game to try to avoid injury:

“There is no thought process,” Harris said. “It’s instinct. I’ve got to cut it out.”

He said Wednesday the hurdle is “not the best way to get out sometimes” since some landings involve more of the head and neck than his two feet.

Harris ran for 783 yards and 4 touchdowns in 2018, but he’ll be expected to do more this fall, so it makes sense that he wants to stay healthy.
