The 6-foot-6, 202-pound Shavers is rated as a four-star prospect, the No. 23 receiver recruit in the nation and the No. 25 prospect from the state of Texas, according to 247Sports Composite Ratings. The massive receiver chose ‘Bama over scholarship offers from Arkansas, Auburn, Georgia, LSU, Mississippi State, Missouri, Ole Miss, Florida State, Stanford, Texas, Oregon and USC among others.

Shavers visited Tuscaloosa over the weekend and the visit proved to be all he needed to see to pledge to the Tide. The receiver spoke to 247Sports after making the decision to commit to Alabama.

“I enjoyed myself,” Shavers said according to Ryan Bartow of 247Sports. “Alabama is the National Champs. My recruitment is over. I’m playing for the best. They are getting a guy with size that can move.”

Shavers will be a participant in July’s Opening Finals held at Nike headquarters in Beaverton, Oregon. Following his commitment, the Tide now are up to 14 total commitments in for 2017 recruiting cycle.
