Alabama suffered another loss to its recruiting class when a 5-star defender decommitted from the Crimson Tide.

Zion Grady, who is 6-foot-4 and 220 pounds, is from Enterprise, Alabama and as an edge defender, committed to the Tide in November.

When Grady committed to Alabama, Grady’s finalists were Alabama, Auburn, Florida State and Georgia. Grady was ranked the No. 1 edge in the Class of 2025, and the No. 19 player nationally, according to the 247Sports Composite. He had a reported 22 offers, and was recruited to Alabama by Coleman Hutzler and Robert Bala.

This leaves Alabama with 2 commits in the Class of 2025, and it’s ranked No. 27 in the country by the 247Sports Composite.

Grady is the latest member of the 2025 class to either reopen his recruitment, or flip, since Nick Saban retired last week. Four-star edge Javion Hilson (Cocoa, FL) flipped his commitment to Florida State on Tuesday. Four-star offensive lineman Mason Short (Evans, GA) decommitted on Tuesday.
