Alabama’s 2021 recruiting class is officially the highest-rated class in modern recruiting history, according to both 247Sports and Rivals.

The addition of 5-star running back Camar Wheaton officially clinched the record. Wheaton committed to Alabama on Dec. 23 but didn’t sign until earlier this morning.

Alabama’s 2021 class now includes a staggering seven 5-star prospects, per 247Sports Composite rankings: Offensive lineman JC Latham, offensive lineman Tommy Brockermeyer, cornerback Ga’Quincy McKinstry, receiver Jacorey Brooks, defensive end Dallas Turner, defensive tackle Damon Payne and Wheaton.

The 2021 class tops the 2017 class for Alabama’s best under Saban, a haul which included Tua Tagovailoa, Jerry Jeudy, Henry Ruggs, Devonta Smith, Najee Harris, Alex Leatherwood, Mac Jones and several other key players.

According to 247Sports Composite rankings, this class has a rating of 325.95. Alabama’s 2017 class received a rating of 323.87.

It will be nearly impossible for this class to live up to the standard set by that 2017 group, which included multiple Heisman Trophy finalists and one winner in Smith. But this is a great start to the next era of Crimson Tide football.

The previous top 247Sports Composite class was signed by Florida in 2010, UF’s final class under Urban Meyer.
