Brandon Miller receives latest award as SEC lands 2 players on Associated Press All-America teams

Brandon Miller has received another national award as the Alabama star continues to reel in postseason honors.
This time it’s from the Associated Press, as Miller was named an AP All-America, along with Kansas’ Jalen Wilson, Purdue’s Zach Edey, Indiana’s Trayce Jackson-Davis and Houston’s Marcus Sasser. Miller, the SEC Player of the Year, also received The Sporting News All-America honor.
Miller, a 6-9 freshman, was a McDonald’s All-American who became an immediate star on the way to being named the Southeastern Conference player of the year. He’s averaging 19.6 points and 8.3 rebounds for the tournament’s No. 1 overall seed.
Miller has been involved in a murder case that has overshadowed the Crimson Tide’s successful run, leading to capital murder charges against former Alabama player Darius Miles and another man for the January shooting death of 23-year-old Jamea Harris. The story has drawn increasing media attention to Alabama, as questions and criticism have persisted as Miller continues to play.
A police investigator testified last month that Miles texted Miller to bring him his gun that night, though authorities haven’t charged Miller with any crime.
Kentucky’s Oscar Tshiebwe made the second team, along with Jaime Jaquez Jr. of UCLA, Gonzaga’s Drew Timme, Arizona’s Azuolas Tubelis and Penn State’s Jalen Pickett rounded out the second team.
