Bryce Young hasn’t played a snap yet in the pros but he’s already being honored by his new teammates.

The former Alabama quarterback was selected as one of the team captains for the Carolina Panthers heading into the Week 1 matchup at the division rival Atlanta Falcons.

Young led by example in a promising way during the preseason. In his last outing vs. the Detroit Lions, Young completed 7 of his 12 passes for 73 yards, including a 16-yard score to Adam Thielen.

Panthers head coach Frank Reich was complimentary of his young quarterback’s performance.

“I think he was sharp and productive and made plays,” Reich said. “And showed even more playmaking ability — with his feet, the throw for the touchdown.”

The Panthers selected Young with the No. 1 pick in the 2023 NFL Draft. On July 21, Young signed his 4-year contract with $37.9 million fully guaranteed.

While at Alabama, the decorated Young captured a national title, Heisman Trophy, and the Maxwell Award amongst other accolades. Young accounted for 87 touchdowns (80 passing 7 rushing) during his 3 seasons with the Crimson Tide.
