Byron Young announced he’s among the junior Alabama defenders returning for the 2022 season.

Young made his announcement in a Twitter post:

“I’ve learned a lot in my three years here. The coaching staff, support staff, and all of my teammates have helped me become all I had hoped for when I signed here.

“But I still believe I have room left to grow, and the only way I can do that is by returning for my senior season. I still have plenty of goals in sight, like graduating and winning another national championship.”

A Laurel, Mississippi native and West Jones product, Young has played in 41 games over 3 seasons. In 2021, he appeared in all 15 games for the Crimson Tide, logging career-highs of 39 tackles, 9 TFL and 2 sacks.

Young joins fellow Alabama defenders Jordan Battle, D.J. Dale, Henry To’o To’o, DeMarcco Hellams in returning for 2022.
