CFB expert Phil Savage discusses the stat that will decide the Sugar Bowl
For the third year in a row, Alabama and Clemson will meet up in the College Football Playoff, but this time, a national title won’t be on the line.
However, it’s still sure to be an incredible game, as two of the nation’s top teams will square off for a spot in the championship game.
According to college football expert Phil Savage, the key to the game will be how each team fares on third down, as the team that can convert the most opportunities will likely emerge victoriously:
.@SeniorBowlPhil: "To me, the stat to watch in this game is third down conversions. Alabama has to run the ball and protect the ball. The best defense is going to be the offense."

Both teams are very similar offensively, so it’ll come down to whoever can catch the opposing defense off-guard the most often.
Alabama QB Jalen Hurts and his Clemson counterpart, Kelly Bryant, will both have to have the game of their lives if they want to lead their teams to victory.
