The Clemson Tigers and Alabama Crimson Tide have met in the past four College Football Playoffs, and Clemson has beaten Alabama in the title game two out of three times.

Heading into the 2019 season, the Tide and the Tigers are expected to be among the top teams again, so a fifth-straight Playoff meeting isn’t out of the question.

On Tuesday, ESPN tried to predict the title game based on a number of recruiting criteria, including top quarterbacks, 5-star signees, top defenders and more. Naturally, the rankings reached a very familiar conclusion:

Based on our formula, it seems we’re staring down a fifth straight meeting between Alabama and Clemson in the College Football Playoff. Who wins the title? At least based on recruiting, it’s too close to call.

Alabama currently has the No. 1 overall class in the 2019 cycle, per the 247Sports composite. Clemson currently checks in at No. 9.
