ESPN's FPI predicts Alabama at Wisconsin showdown
ESPN’s Football Power Index gave its prediction for Saturday’s showdown between Alabama and Wisconsin, predicting that the Crimson Tide have a 92.1% chance to win the game.
Both teams sit at 2-0 entering this content, although they each have had struggles with weaker foes. Wisconsin faced a 14-13 deficit against Western Michigan in its opener before rallying for a 28-14 win.
The Badgers then face South Dakota to close the gap in Week 2 to just 17-13 in the third quarter Saturday before Wisconsin won 27-13. Miami transfer quarterback Tyler Van Dyke has been solid thus far, but Alabama presents a different challenge.
Although, that Crimson Tide team also struggled Saturday. Facing a South Florida squad that is considered to be a dark horse to make the playoff, Alabama went blow-for-blow with the Bulls for much of three quarters, finding itself in a 14-13 game going into the fourth. But, Kalen DeBoer’s offense opened things up in the game’s final frame, as the Tide scored the final 21 points to comfortably win 35-16.
The teams’ meeting at Camp Randall Stadium will be their third all-time. Alabama cruised to a 35-17 win in the 2015 AdvoCare Classic in Arlington, Texas, the last meeting between these two. Future Heisman Trophy-winner Derrick Henry ran for 147 yards and 3 touchdowns on just 13 carries in the game, while the Crimson Tide defense held the vaunted Badger ground attack to just 40 yards.
In 1928, Wisconsin hosted Alabama in Madison and emerged victorious in a 15-0 shutout.
FOX’s Big Noon Kickoff will be in town for the game, which is set to kickoff at noon EST.
Alabama looks weak and smells of Group of 5.
Jealousy noted Vil fan.
Pac 12 Alabama looks weak and smells of fear.
Don’t worry, Daddy will be home soon and you can suck as much Bama D as you need to.
Pac 12 Alabama looks weak and smells like defeat.
Poor Vil fan. 34-20 sure is painful for him. A half dozen comments on a Bama article that has zero to do with his team showing just how much Bama owns him. Hilarious.
“as the Tide scored the final 21 points to comfortably win 35-16”
Alabama won 42-16.
